Join the Adventure: Register for SWEP's Junior Explorers Summer Camp!

Two sessions are available depending on the age of the child:

  • Ages 9 - 12: Session 1: Monday - Thursday, July 14 - 17, 9 am - 3 pm
  • Age 6 - 8: Session 2: Monday - Thursday, July 21 - 24, 9 am - 3 pm

SWEP Summer Camps: A Journey into Nature and Environmental Stewardship

Our SWEP Junior Explorers summer camps are designed to inspire the next generation of environmental stewards by offering children the opportunity to connect with the natural world in a fun, engaging, and educational way. Through hands-on science experiments, interactive games, creative art projects, and exciting outdoor adventures, campers will explore the beauty and complexity of our local ecosystems.

Based out of our cozy 30-foot yurt at the trailhead of Tahoe Cross Country (Dollar Hill / Tahoe City), our camp provides the perfect base for daily excursions into the surrounding forests, creeks, and streams. Each day is filled with outdoor exploration, where children will have the chance to observe wildlife, learn about plant species, test water quality, and develop a deep appreciation for the natural environment. Each week, one day will be dedicated to off-site exploration, with a unique drop-off location chosen for a special adventure that takes campers to new and exciting natural areas for hands-on learning and discovery. The older participant group will have the opportunity to explore the Tahoe Cross Country area on mountain bikes. Detailed information about these excursions will be shared as the date nears, ensuring parents are well-informed and prepared.

Our camp's focus is on creating meaningful experiences that encourage curiosity, environmental responsibility, and a love for the outdoors. Whether it's learning about the science of the natural world or simply enjoying the fun of summer camp games in a pristine natural setting, our campers will leave with new knowledge, lasting memories, and a renewed sense of connection to the environment.

Once your scholarship application is reviewed, you will be contacted by a Summer Camp Administrator with more information on next steps.
